Gaston Woodland’s Hip Hop Rap Songs are all about being culturally and musically responsive to kids. The children’s music industry has had a one dimensional style of sound. Gaston challenges tradition by creating music that has a commercial and current rap sound. Gaston’s music is classrooms all over the world. Teachers are using his songs to help kids learn educational concepts better. All of Gaston’s songs are standards aligned, and his videos keeps kids engaged while they are learning. The kids love the music production, and so do the parents!
Gaston Woodland received his BA in Sociology from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and his MA degree in Curriculum Instruction. Gaston has been teaching for 7 years, and is a certified English teacher in grades 5-9. Also, Gaston received his Master’s in Urban Education. Gaston completed his EdD in Leadership and Innovation.
Gaston began his career of creating kid’s music when his wife gave birth to his son in 2014. At first, he would make songs to teach his son colors and the alphabet. After uploading the videos to YouTube, Gaston received a lot of positive feedback. When he became a full-time teacher, other teachers in began to use his videos though ought the district. Since then, Gaston has had millions of views on his YouTube channel.
